OUR TRAINING

DATS follows the latest learner centered training concepts. An industry first in Sri Lanka. Students learn how to become their own learning managers and adapt the training process to their own particular learning style. 

DATS employs instructors with a high level of industry knowledge and experience, who are qualified according to german standards.

OUR SUPPORT

DATS provides outstanding training to selected students every year without any charge or obligation on their part. During the training, trainees will receive meals, uniforms and footwear at the cost of DIMO.

DATS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

Since 1990 over 550 have graduated from DATS, Sri Lanka’s most exclusive VET Academy.

Many DATS Alumni lead successful careers within the DIMO group itself.

Many have sought international career opportunities, working for the world’s topmost Automobile Brands as well as setting up their own businesses overseas. DATS Alumnis are in high demand in Europe, Australia, Middle east and North America.

The DATS Alumni Association has branches in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

Joined the Company in September 1986 and appointed to the Board in December 1995. Appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer with effect from April 2006 and as Group Chief Executive Officer from April 2012 to date.

Fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK (CIMA). Alumni of Harvard Business School Advance Management Programme (AMP).

Joined the Company in 2008. Currently serving in the capacity of Chief Human Resources Officer. Instrumental in driving Human Resources Management of the organization to great heights and in winning many prestigious national & international awards for Human Resources Management Excellence including DIMO being recognized as a Great Place To Work in Sri Lanka for 6 consecutive years.
Qualifications and Titles
Attorney-at-Law, Diploma in Human Resources Development, a Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law.
Certified for Gender Studies by the Gender Academy ILO International Training Centre, Turin.

Prof. K.K.C.K PereraVice Chancellor University Of Moratuwa

Kapila Perera is the Vice Chancellor, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Kapila joined UOM in 1995 as a professor and also served as a Lieutenant Commander of the regular force of the Sri Lanka Navy prior to joining university of Moratuwa.
He obtained a Masters Degree from University of California Davis in 1989 in Mechanical Engineering, followed by Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in 1993 from the same University. Prof. Perera’s research interests include Turbulent Heat Transfer and Combustion Modeling, Energy Sources, Renewable Energy Technologies and Co-generation.

Thomas Michael is a trained industrial mechanic and is a certified trainer according to German Trainer Aptitude (AEVO). He studied industrial engineering and graduated in economics and law.
Since 2020, he has been working as a Business Scout – a programme in the network of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) – in the field of vocational education and sustainable economic development in India. Previously, he gained experience as a project coordinator for business-related education projects and as an education advisor at various chambers of commerce and industry in Germany, where he also gained experience as a trainer and manager in industry and the service sector, working on the issues from different perspectives since 1995.

Senior Training Manager at Daimler AG for over 40 years. Management of the Daimler Technical Training Center in Bremen/Germany with more than 500 vocational Trainees and 3,000 course participants p.a.
Management of Daimler/Juffali Training Center in Saudi-Arabia including the Training of Management staff and after-sales personnel. Worldwide manpower development assignments for Daimler AG in Nigeria, South Africa and Malaysia.
Has worked in various deployments in production departments of Daimler factories to improve quality (TQM) and cost effectiveness.

He was General Manager – Technical Competency Development at DIMO from 2015 to 2018.
