1990

DIMO Automobile Training School (DATS), was established at Jethawana Road, Colombo 14, in collaboration with Daimler AG Germany, to develop a course of international standards. The school was the first and largest of its kind in the private sector, offering automotive technological education as a social service to Sri Lankans.

1997

DATS moved to Siyambalape , the largest and most advanced commercial vehicle repair and service centre on the island. At this new location DATS continued to expand its horizons.

In celebration of our 20th anniversary, DATS opened a new branch in the liberated war-torn area of Jaffna. DATS-Jaffna was established in Ariyalai offering enhanced training facilities and courses to more students.

DATS moved to its present location in Weliweriya, expanding and developing the training facilities to meet the rapidly changing automotive industry.

DATS was accredited by the German Chamber of commerce to offer dual vocational training according to German VET standards. An industry first in Sri Lanka. DATS began offering its  Diploma in Automobile Mechatronics certified as category A by the German Chamber of commerce, opening employment opportunities for graduates worldwide.

2018

Over the years, more than 500 students have graduated from DATS, with exceptional skills to utilise in the growing global automotive industry.
