The automotive industry is a rapidly evolving industry that has been very receptive to emerging technologies. With the introduction of digitalization, the automobile industry is expecting a major transformation in the coming decade.
In order to keep up to date with these technological advancements in the automobile industry, lecturers at vocational training schools must update their knowledge so that they can transfer this knowledge to students following automotive courses.
GIZ Sri Lanka’s Vocational Training in Sri Lanka (VTSL) project is supporting Sri Lanka German Training Institute (SLGTI) and the Ceylon German Technical Training Institute (CGTTI) to improve and update their technical and methodological capacities in teaching relevant technologies in a practice-oriented manner.
Six lecturers from SLGTI and CGTTI completed their 6-week training recently at DIMO Academy for Technical Skills (DATS) in Weliveriya. The training of trainers comprised 6 modules including Air/fuel-mixture formation (Petrol/Diesel), chassis technologies, automotive air conditioning, safety, and environmental standards. Lecturers also received hands-on practical training using a state-of-the-art Bosch diagnostic tester, Ravaglioli wheel balancer, and Mastercool air condition service unit.
